I’m what some might call an accidental expat — I moved to the U.S. from India in 2002 to study film, fell in love with a San Franciscan, and unexpectedly found myself navigating a new life, culture, and identity abroad.
Like many women who relocate, I wasn’t fully prepared for the challenges of starting over — from finding meaningful work and building new friendships to reclaiming my confidence in a foreign environment.
These hurdles became the catalyst for my reinvention and a powerful new direction in my life.
After stints in film and the nonprofit sector — including supporting skilled immigrants in finding jobs — I launched The Expat Woman in 2013 to create the kind of global, supportive community I longed for.
What started as a small meetup quickly grew into a thriving platform that has empowered thousands of internationally-minded women to connect, collaborate, and thrive.
Today, I hosting workshops for my community and other organizations and also coach expat and globally mobile women to make bold moves abroad — whether that means launching a personal brand, building visibility and leveraging platforms like YouTube and LinkedIn.
I’m also a LinkedIn coach, trainer, and speaker, and I teach women how to use the platform as a tool to be seen, share their story, and attract the right opportunities — just as I did in my own journey.
I also have two YouTube Channels one focused on teaching professionals how to use LinkedIn and the other to help women make bold moves abroad.
